Best Season to Horseback Ride in WV
One of the best aspects of New River Gorge in West Virginia is the wild country and natural beauty that are present throughout all four seasons. Horseback riding along the valleys and mountain trails gives you the chance to experience this firsthand.
Spring brings blooming wildflowers, mild temperatures, and the opportunity to spot some wildlife as animals begin to move around more. The summer months give more sunlight for riding, and the shady forest helps you beat the heat as you see everything nature has to offer. Fall is also an excellent time for a trail ride, with typically drier trail conditions and the opportunity for leaf peeping. Riding in winter lets you experience the magic of crisp air and a snowy landscape, all from atop one of our seasoned horses. The best season to take a horseback ride is really a matter of personal preference, and our guides can help you determine what’s right for you.
