- Class IV: These rapids are for advanced rafters only and may include hazards such as unavoidable waves, tight passages, and other obstructions.
The New River is divided into the Upper New and Lower New sections. The Upper New has Class I-III rapids, and the Lower New has Class III+ rapids.
